Instead of one big start with all 10,000+ runners taking off at once, we divide everyone into about 20 waves organized by expected pace so that everyone can run their own race with people their own pace. Waves start with the fastest runners, then slower runners, then joggers, then walkers.

The FORTitude 10K is open to everyone. We want you to run, jog, or walk at your speed. There are over 20 waves, each organized by pace. Only the first 6-8 waves require a qualification time — these are designed and reserved for runners who will finish faster than 62 minutes. Use your 2017 BolderBOULDER, your 2016 ColderBOLDER time, or any other race results within 12 months of the FORTitude 10K, and we’ll place you in the fastest wave possible. It’s important to register according to your anticipated pace. All other waves are open to everyone on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to park and get to the start line. The “A Wave” will kick-off the FORTitude 10K at 8:00 am. The final wave will be launched by approximately 8:45 a.m.

Exact wave start times will be in the commemorative training calendar included in each race package and posted here beginning July 1, 2017.

We can help you start with your family or friends; the rest of the day is up to you. If you want to be in the same start wave as someone else, register everyone online at the same time. In the appropriate field, enter the names of those you want to run with. Qualifying rules still apply and everyone in your group will be placed in the slowest person’s wave.

All registrations are automatically backed by the FORTitude GuaRUNtee. It means that if you sign up and don’t participate, we can roll your registration over to next year’s event for only $20. Don’t sweat it, you won’t need an excuse from your mom or a note from your doc.
