What, when and where is the FORTitude 10K?
What: The inaugural FORTitude 10K will take participants on a scenic course through Fort Collins passing landmarks like City Park and the CSU Oval as well as weaving through classic Fort Collins neighborhoods like Avery and Mountain Avenue. The race will finish at the newly completed Sonny Lubick Field at CSU Stadium and it will be the first chance students, faculty, and the community will get to experience the stadium.
When? Labor Day – September 4, 2017
Where? The race begins at Shields and Elizabeth Street, next to the Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colorado, and ends at Colorado State University’s new Sonny Lubick Field. The FORTitude 10K will be the first event ever in the new stadium.
When does registration open?
Registration is open! Click the REGISTER button above.
Is there a cap?
Space is limited for the FORTitude 10K and we do expect it to sell out. Make sure you register early to reserve your space!
How do the waves work?
We want you to run, jog, or walk at your speed. There are over 20 waves in the FORTitude, each organized by pace. The first 6-8 waves are designed and reserved for runners who finish faster than 62 minutes. Use your 2016 or 2017 BolderBOULDER time or provide any other race results within 12 months of the FORTitude 10K, and we’ll place you in the fastest wave possible. It’s important to register according to your anticipated pace. All other waves are open to everyone on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Will there be prizes?
Awards will be given to the top 10 men and women in their respective age groups. Age group champions begin at six years old and go up to the oldest registered participant that completes the race.
How about parking and transportation?
We are working with CSU, and the City of Fort Collins to determine the most convenient solution for parking. Though, we will have parking, we haven’t nailed down the specifics yet.
Is there anything I can’t do?
In order to keep everyone on their feet, we don’t allow pets, strollers, inline skates, and costumes that extend beyond the body. There are no refunds, exchanges or transfers on registration fees, but if you sign up and don’t run, you can take advantage of our FORTitude GuaRUNtee.
Are there hidden 'extras and fees'?
Nope. Unlike other sports, running is pure. It’s just you, a pair of shoes, and a route. We don’t think any pure sport should include a bunch of hidden fees. That’s why, unlike other races, we don’t have added online fees or handling charges. The only add-on’s are for shipping (if you choose) and/or extra gear or food if you want them.
What do I get in my race package?
Other races are giving less and less, but we work hard to give you more. Beyond the beautiful setting and amazing finish, you’ll experience the city of Fort Collins and on course bands. You’ll also receive a training calendar, a FORTitude race T-shirt, and a post-race snack. Plus, our race sponsors and partners offer more samples and discounts than you could shake a race bib at.
Is the event timed?
Yes. We were the first mass-participation race to offer high-tech tag timing to every entrant. When you get your race packet, you’ll receive a tag that’s already attached to your bib. You will leave it on your bib, and this is how we track your time. It not only gives you a total time, the tag will track your running splits every mile, and you’ll get a text message immediately following the race with your finish time. When you’re done you don’t even have to return the tag!
Where can I get my results?
We know that most times, it’s all about your time. That’s why FORTitude has got the most seamless, advanced results of any 10K in the world. We will post results online on race day, and later in October you will get an official finisher certificate with full readout about your race in the mail.
Where will the course go?
The FORTitude 10K will take runners on a scenic yet altitude challenging course through Fort Collins, passing landmarks like City Park and the CSU Oval, as well as weaving through picturesque Avery and Mountain Ave. neighborhoods. The race will finish at the newly completed Sonny Lubick Field at CSU Stadium, and will be the first chance for students, faculty, and the community to experience the stadium.
Will there be aid offered for the runners along the course?
There will be aid stations at the start, the finish and mile 2, 3, 4, and 5. We will also place portable toilets at the start and along the course. There will also be emergency response available.
Will there be an Expo?
Yes, runners can expect a post-race expo. We will have more details as we finalize plans with our new sponsors over the coming months.
Can I volunteer?
Absolutely! For more information on how to volunteer for the FORTitude 10K please e-mail Maddy Peavy, our Community Programs Manager.
How can I work for the FORTitude 10K?
We will open applications for seasonal employment for the FORTitude 10K on June 1, 2017.
Can I register at a store in Fort Collins?
We have not determined if there will be any onsite registration for the FORTitude 10K. We do know space is limited and this race will fill-up fast, so interested participants are encouraged to register online. If you have any questions or need any assistance registering online, please send us an email.
When and where do I pick up my packet?
Packet pick-up locations are listed as you register online and you can pick the location that is the most convenient for you. Packet pick-up dates have not been confirmed but we will notify you when your packet is ready to be picked up.
Can I bike to the start line?
Yes, bike parking will be available at the start line on race day.
How can I become a sponsor/expo vendor?
For more information on becoming a FORTitude 10K sponsor or expo vendor, please e-mail Andrew Lindley, our Director of Sponsorships.
What if I'm not running but want to join in on the fun?
Not running? Come early to watch the start of the race, then walk a short distance to the stadium to see your friends, family, and your neighbors finish. Then watch the women’s professional race starting at 8:30 am with the winner finishing around 11:02 am and the men’s professional race starting around 10:45 am with the winner finishing around 11:15 am (times subject to change).
Be at Sonny Lubick Field at CSU Stadium to cheer these athletes on for the final sprint!
